Ann Arbor Pastor Rev. Donnell Wyche to Receive Avalon Housing’s Community Champion Award at Annual “Home for Good” Fundraiser
Ann Arbor, MI — [September 6, 2025] — Ann Arbor Community Church is honored to announce that its Senior Pastor, the Reverend Donnell T. Wyche, will be recognized by Avalon Housing with the Community Champion Award at Avalon’s annual Home for Good fundraising dinner on Thursday, September 18, 2025 • 6pm-9pm, at Washtenaw Community College’s Morris Lawrence Building.
Avalon Housing, the leading provider of affordable, supportive housing in Washtenaw County, presents the Community Champion Award to individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary advocacy and support for affordable housing and for Avalon’s mission. Rev. Wyche’s consistent advocacy for housing justice, his public leadership in city planning, and his long-standing support for Avalon developments such as The Grove at Veridian have made him a powerful voice for housing as a human right.
“Your support of The Grove over the years, and your voice in support of affordable housing in general, have been so important to us that we wanted to publicly recognize you,” Avalon Housing said in its award announcement.
Rev. Wyche has served as Senior Pastor and Head of Staff at Ann Arbor Community Church for 10 years. Beyond his pastoral work, he is deeply engaged in community leadership, serving as a City of Ann Arbor Planning Commissioner, a founding member of Neighbors for More Neighbors Ann Arbor, co-coordinator of the Washtenaw Faith Leaders Forum, founding member of the Coalition for Re-envisioning Our Safety, and former president of the InterFaith Council for Peace and Justice. His leadership has consistently centered on building equity, advocating for peace and justice, and ensuring access to affordable housing for all.
“I am deeply humbled to be recognized by Avalon Housing,” said Rev. Wyche. “Avalon’s work of creating safe, supportive, and inclusive communities is essential to the health of Ann Arbor. Affordable housing is not just about shelter—it’s about dignity, belonging, and the opportunity for all our neighbors to thrive.”
The Home for Good fundraiser brings together community members, partners, and sponsors to support Avalon’s mission of ending homelessness in Washtenaw County. Proceeds from the event help Avalon provide the care and support tenants need to stay in their homes—for good.
